Just Added: CRAFTED COLLECTION — artisan-made pieces from Yunnan
gathers everyday objects found through our journeys across Yunnan — shaped by place, climate, and daily life. Drawn from heritage workshops and independent makers alike, each piece is chosen for how naturally it fits into lived experience, carrying the quiet presence of where it comes from.
Dali has been part of our summers since childhood -a place of mountain air and lake light, where life feels open, romantic, and quietly free. Among younger creatives, you'll even hear it nicknamed "Dalifornia" — a playful way to describe the life people come here seeking. That same ease has helped craft and culture flourish in many directions. In and around Dali, you'll find heritage-level traditions such as Bai tie-dye from Zhoucheng (listed in China's national intangible cultural heritage in 2006) and Jianchuan woodcarving (designated as national-level ICH in 2012).Rather than focusing on a single craft, our Dali selection brings together a range of everyday objects we encountered along the way — tie-dyed fans and fabric charms, hand-embroidered hangings, small ceramic figures like roof-tile cat, and Jiamǎ woodblock prints. Some were gathered from the studios of recognized heritage artisans, others from independent makers who have chosen to live and work here. Together, they reflect a place where craft is not preserved behind glass, but lived with — quietly woven into daily life.
Chuxiong is one of Yunnan's most important Yi homelands — an autonomous prefecture where Yi communities have long shaped the region's daily life and aesthetics. Here, embroidery isn't decoration; it's a living language. Chuxiong's Yi embroidery is widely recognized for its long lineage and cultural weight, and has been highlighted on global fashion stages in recent years. In local heritage protection records, Chuxiong Yi embroidery has been listed at the provincial level, while Chuxiong Yi costume traditions (deeply rooted in embroidery) are included in China's national intangible cultural heritage list. For TERRAIN, we gathered small embroidered keepsakes from workshops and independent makers, objects that carry care, blessing, and craftsmanship in palm-sized form. You'll also find a quiet echo of Chuxiong here in our ETHEREAL world: Fire Bloom draws from Yi ritual imagery and a fire-and-sky sensibility that embroidery often holds — translated into modern, luminous shapes.
